It has been six days since the TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee ended her life by allegedly hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Goregaon, Mumbai. Young Pratyusha’s death has devastated her parents and the entire family.
Pratyusha was staying with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh in Mumbai. Her parents are yet to visit the home where this fatality took place. The TV actress catapulted to the top after playing Anandi in TV serial ‘Balika Vadhu’.

The actress’ father Shankar Banerjee recalls speaking to her for the last time. Banerjee informs about Pratyusha’s dreams and future plans. “I spoke to her last on the 30th of March, then she was no more. Pratyusha believed a lot in astrology because my father was a well-known astrologer. She wanted me to read out her predictions that day. She is a Leo and I told her that it was a great year for her and that she is my champion daughter. But she replied only with ‘papa, life is very difficult’. She wanted to get married in a grand way, in the presence of family and friends. It was her dream to become a beautiful bride. Just that she got the wrong man,” says Shankar Banerjee, Pratyusha’s father.
Banerjee has further alleged that Rahul Raj Singh used to terrify Pratyusha a lot. “Towards the end, she was very scared. Pratyusha was told by Rahul that they are the ‘baahubali’ (strong men) of Ranchi. We have four houses in Mumbai and three cars. His mother is an MLA. Whatever it be, our appeal is to the media, to find the truth. (Rahul Raj Singh’s ex-girlfriend) Saloni (Sharma) used to come and torture our daughter. Rahul never protected Pratyusha,” adds her father Shankar Banerjee.
A tearful mother, Soma Banerjee too demands justice for her daughter. Unable to contain herself, Soma Banerjee says, “Pratyusha realised that the man is not right, she wanted to get out of this relationship. But girls can be foolish, she used to get carried away with his sweet talks and eventually went away forever. I feel that he should either be hanged or sentenced to life imprisonment. Only then will he realise how difficult life is after killing someone.”
As for the Pratyusha Banerjee death case update, the Mumbai police have booked Rahul Raj Singh on abetment, assault and intimidation. Rahul is currently in the ICU suffering from chest pain and depression. Since Rahul Raj Singh is charged by the police under many serious crimes, he will be arrested once he is discharged from the hospital.
