Pratyusha Banerjee’s death shocked the Indian TV industry as well as Bollywood on April 1 as the actress succumbed to suspected suicide attempt at her residence in Mumbai. Her live-in partner Rahul Raj Singh rushed her to the hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.

April 1:
5:00 PM
Pratyusha Banerjee found hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall at her residence in Goregaon, Mumbai on Friday at 5: 00 PM, by her boyfriend Raul Raj Singh.
7:15 PM
The actress immediately shifted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital by Rahul Raj Singh. Pratyusha declared dead at around 7:15 PM.
7:15 PM – 9:00 PM
Actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh informs several friends and relatives of Pratyusha about her demise. Small screen celebrities like Ajaz Khan, Gurmeet and Debina, Sara Khan and Dolly Bindra rush to the hospital.
8:00 PM – 12 Midnight
TV celebrities and Pratyusha’s colleagues and friends like Ajaz Khan, Dolly Bindra et al give statements suspecting foul play. They tell the media that it is a clear cut case of murder and not suicide. They also claim Pratyusha being a very strong girl to take any such drastic step.

April 2:
A video and pictures of Pratyusha Banerjee’s dead body surface. The Internet is splashed with Pratyusha’s last still photographs and films. Dolly Bindra is seen in one such leaked video where she is checking and inquiring with the hospital staff about some marks on the deceased, standing next to Pratyusha’s lifeless body. A cop too is visible in the leaked video.
Post Mortem report states death due to asphyxia. Reportedly, her viscera sent to a lab for chemical analysis. Only after the report arrives, the conclusive cause of death can be known.
The last rites of Pratyusha held at the Oshiwara crematorium grounds on Saturday evening. The late actress is bade a teary adieu in a bridal attire.

Relationship woes:
It is being alleged that Pratyusha Banerjee was being harassed by Rahul Raj Singh. While the two were in love, there were also a lot of fights between the celebrity TV couple and during one such event Pratyusha and Rahul had smashed their window panes in the past. According to an entertainment portal, a neighbour of Pratyusha had heard her crying on the fateful day.
The ex factor:
A second theory doing the rounds is that Pratyusha was not just harassed by Rahul, but was also being bothered by his alleged ex-girlfriend Saloni Sharma. The stress of these strained relationships led to Pratyusha cutting her life short.
Financial angle:
While several industry celebrities are pointing fingers at Rahul Raj Singh for Pratyusha’s suicide, a leading daily has quoted Rahul’s father Harshwardhan revealing a financial angle. Harshwardhan stated that Pratyusha was going through monetary troubles and hence had taken a loan of Rs 50 lakhs from him. He further added that Pratyusha’s parents managed all her money as she had a joint account with them. The actress apparently wanted to file a legal case against her parents as they had taken all her money.

Pratyusha’s friends from Bollywood have rubbished the theory of financial woes and are suspecting foul play. Good friend Kamya Punjabi said, “Pratyusha was doing very well in her career and talks about her financial problems are completely wrong. She had not been asking money from anyone. There were injury marks on her nose and cheek and she was not happy in her relationship. We know that she is not the one to end her life like that.”
