Ritesh Deshmukh has been sporting a long hairdo since some time now as it is for his upcoming film ‘Banjo’. But growing his hair delayed the schedule of the film, “My character stays in a slum but has his own style. Krishika (Lulla) insisted that you have to have long hair. We pushed the film, it was supposed to begin in October but at that time I was shooting for ‘Housefull’ and didn’t have time to grow my hair in a particular manner. I hope it looks decent eventually.” ‘Banjo’ is produced by Eros and also stars Nargis Fakhri in a leading role.
This time around, Ritesh is all set to play a Mumbaikar, “I have spoken in Marathi in several films but it is only in ‘Banjo’ that I have played an authentic Maharashtrian character. It is rooted, a typical Mumbai character.” Ritesh will be working with Nargis for the second time in this film as they are already working together in ‘Housefull 3’. All praise for his co-star, the actor says, “Anyone of us could have been re-cast in the film but Nargis cannot be. There are a few roles which are made for particular people, and this character is tailor made for her. She is wonderful, fun and crack, but we love her.”
‘Banjo’ is directed by Ravi Jadhav who has earned a lot of accolades for his work in the Marathi film industry. Ritesh Deshmukh also seems to have found a comfort zone with him, “At times actors have to adjust according to the director but here the director is ready to adjust to the actor. He says that you understand your perspective better, so let’s work together.”
