Sonakshi Sinha and Taapsee Pannu are the frontrunners in the race to bag the important Bollywood biopic, that on the Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures holds the rights to make the sports biopic. The buzz is that the creative minds at the production house are toying with the idea to cast Sonakshi Sinha who has worked on films like ‘Noor’ and ‘Ittefaq’ and Tapsee Pannu who has to her credit some impressive performances in ‘Pink’ and ‘Baby’. Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj is currently on top of her game. She holds the record of being the highest run-scorer in One Day Internationals (ODIs), with 6,000 runs to her credit. Mithali is also the first Indian captain, in men and women cricket, to lead the team twice in the ICC World Cup final, in 2005 and 2017. With so many accomplishments under her belt, it would be interesting to see who plays Mithali Raj’s role in the biopic, Sonakshi or Taapsee.
