Priyanka Chopra finalised for Kalpana Chawla biopic; details here

Celebs & Cinema had earlier reported that Priyanka Chopra will be back in Mumbai, signing up a few Bollywood biggies. And Kalpana Chawla biopic seems to be her latest acquisition. Priya Mishra will debut as a director with this project while Priyanka Chopra will step into the shoes of Indian-American famed astronaut Kalpana Chawla. Piggy Chops returned to Mumbai last week and may soon sign on the dotted line for this biopic, which is being promised to be made on international scale. Priyanka Chopra has finished the shoot of her Hollywood debut ‘Baywatch’ and will now concentrate on her Hindi film ventures. Kalpana Chawla hailed from Karnal, Haryana and was the first Indian woman astronaut in space. She passed away while on her second expedition along with six other crew members in February 2003 when the space shuttle exploded. Priya Mishra will now capture this entire journey of Kalpana Chawla, with Priyanka Chopra playing the lead.

Priyanka Chopra-starrer Kalpana Chawla biopic is not the only astronaut movie being made in Bollywood. Aamir Khan will play astronaut Rakesh Sharma, who was the first Indian to travel to space in 1984. Also, Sushant Singh Rajput will portray an astronaut in ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’, which is touted as a space adventure. So Priyanka might have some tough competition.
