Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious film ‘Padmavati’, which was to hit the screens in November this year, has been allegedly postponed to April 2018. The entertainment industry buzz suggests that ‘Padmavati’ may not release around Diwali 2017. Apparently, a lot of VFX is left to be done and several major chunks of the film have to be shot with the leading cast of Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Bhansali was planning on a Diwali cracker by releasing ‘Padmavati’ during the festive season, and the makers have constantly refuted all rumours of a delay in the film. But with a fast approaching release date it remains to be seen if ‘Padmavati’ sticks to its deadline or will indeed be pushed to April 2018!

‘Padmavati’ is a historical drama about queen Padmini (Deepika Padukone), her husband Raja Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and Emperor Allaudin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), who falls for Rani Padmini, aka Padmavati’s beauty. Even before its release this Bollywood film has been through its fair share of controversies. First off, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had to work hard to get his dream cast together, with two powerful celebs and cinema stars like Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the same frame. Then he faced a lot of opposition from fringe groups who vandalised the sets in Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The team of ‘Padmavati’ finally began shooting at an exquisite set in Mumbai. Interestingly, Sanjay Dutt, who has a special appearance in the film, is yet to shoot for his portions as well. All this may have delayed the release date of ‘Padmavati’ from Diwali 2017 to April 2018.
