Kangana Ranaut is facing yet another legal battle. The celebrity cinema actress has been slapped a legal notice by filmmaker Ketan Mehta for hijacking his ambitious project ‘Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen’. In June 2015, Ketan Mehta had approached Kangana Ranaut for the biopic on queen Laxmibai and she had even agreed for the same. The filmmaker shared several research material collected on the subject with Kangana over the time, but he was shocked when the ‘Queen’ actress suddenly announced ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, which is also a biopic on Rani Laxmibai. The National Award-winning filmmaker was not aware of Kangana’s project until it was reported in the media recently. Ketan Mehta feels that his ambitious project has been knowingly hijacked and he has asked the makers of ‘Manikarnika’ to stop all the work on the film.

Amidst great fanfare, Kangana Ranaut commenced ‘Manikarnika’ in Varanasi with a Ganga Aarti and a poster launch. The Bollywood actress has roped in Krish to direct ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, which is scheduled to release in April 2018, unless Ketan Mehta’s legal notice to Kangana comes into effect.
