Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez’s thriller drama, ‘A Gentleman’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ and Aadar Jain, Anya Singh’s debut film ‘Qaidi Band’ opened to a very dull response at the Box Office. ‘A Gentleman’ made Rs 3.75 crore on Friday, Rs 4 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday, making a total weekend collection of Rs 12.25 crore. ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’, on the other hand, recorded a collection of Rs 3.85 crore at the end of its first weekend. Third release on the same day, August 25, was Aadar Jain and Anya Singh’s big Bollywood dream in the form of ‘Qaidi Band’. But that film too fared badly at the Box Office, raking in a mere Rs 25 lakhs on the first day of its release.
Thus, the weekend gone by has spelt disaster for Bollywood at the Box Office. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ brought some hope on the ticket windows, as at the end of three weeks the film is still holding strong and has collected Rs 125 crore. Out of all these films, it has been the only face saver and has come out as the winner at the Box Office.
