Reema Lagoo passes away at 59

Bollywood’s celebrity veteran actress Reema Lagoo is dead. Reema Lagoo passed away at the age of 59 due to cardiac arrest. Cremation is at 2 pm at Oshiwara crematorium today

Reema Lagoo, who has played a mother to Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on the silver screen, died of a cardiac arrest early morning today. The veteran actress was 59 years old and reportedly complained of chest pain late last night. Lagoo was then admitted to Andheri’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital by family members. Around 3:15 am she suffered a heart attack and breathed her last at the Andheri hospital. Reema Lagoo was married to Vivek Lagoo, but the couple had separated later. Reema Lagoo is survived by daughter Mrunmayee and son-in-law. Lagoo’s body was brought to her home at Lokhandwala, Andheri today morning. The funeral will take place at 2:00 pm today at the Oshiwara crematorium.

Reema Lagoo was the daughter of Marathi stage actress Mandakini Bhadbhade. Born in 1958, Reema Lagoo was named Gurinder Bhadbhade. She was more known for her motherly characters. Her big Bollywood break was with ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ in 1988, and she then went on to play similar homely woman roles in hits like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’, ‘Rangeela’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ amongst many others. Reema Lagoo was also part of popular TV shows like ‘Tu Tu Main Main’ and ‘Shriman Shrimati’. She was currently seen in TV show ‘Naamkarann’ and had been reportedly shooting for the same last evening too, after which Reema Lagoo complained of chest pain post returning home.

Reema Lagoo’s death has come as a shock for the industry. Several Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to express their grief.
