The Bollywood film industry has been protesting against piracy since long, especially this year since several movies were leaked on the Internet even before their theatrical release. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar feels that a change in the existing law is the need of the hour. “It is a bailable offence and there is too much money in piracy. So till the law doesn’t change, what can we do? People are stealing and we are losing a lot of money,” opines Zoya. Adding to it, another filmmaker, Vishal Bhardwaj says, “In France, they let you off for using Torrent twice, but the third time the police will reach your residence. Our government has a lot of things to do, there are so many cases. So our issue comes in the end.” Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Udta Punjab’ was one of the victims of piracy this year.
