The debacle of ‘Rangoon’ seems to have made Nation Award winning filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj return to his Shakespearean love. Rumours in the entertainment industry suggest that Vishal Bhardwaj is planning to adapt a comedy play, ‘Twelfth Night’, written by Shakespeare in the 16th century. Vishal is expected to give the script a Bollywood twist, which is a gender confusion plot. In the past, the Bollywood filmmaker has adapted Shakespearean plots like ‘Macbeth’ to be made into ‘Maqbool’ in 2003, ‘Othello’ made into ‘Omkara’ in 2006 and Hamlet turned into ‘Haider’ in 2014. While his original ideas, ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ and Rangoon’, have fallen flat at the Box Office, Vishal Bhardwaj seems to return to his old days and ways of making films, by roping in the angle of Shakespearean love.
