Vinod Khanna is dead. He passed away at the age of 70, leaving behind his wife and four children in bereaving family. Vinod Khanna allegedly suffered from cancer and after a brief illness and hospitalisation, he passed away today morning

Vinod Khanna is no more. Vinod Khanna passed away at the age of 70 today morning at the HN Reliance Foundation And Research Centre, Girgaum in south Mumbai. It is being said that Vinod Khanna suffered from cancer.

Vinod Khanna had been admitted to the hospital earlier this year and his family had then confirmed that the Bollywood actor-cum-politician was ailing from severe dehydration, reports stated that he was even suffering from cancer. There were rumours about Vinod Khanna’s death a few days back, but he was still ailing at the hospital. Vinod Khanna is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna and four kids, Rahul (44), Akshaye (42) and Sakshi (25) and Shraddha Khanna. He was a busy politician from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab but did not leave behind his passion for cinema. In recent years, Vinod Khanna featured in films like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Dabangg 2’ and ‘Dilwale’.

Vinod Khanna debuted in 1968 in Sunil Dutt-produced ‘Man Ka Meet’. His career spans successful films like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Qurbani’ and ‘Mere Apne’ amongst many others. He was once considered to be the only competition for Amitabh Bachchan. Apparently, it was Vinod Khanna who introduced Hema Malini to politics, with whom he has worked in many films. Interestingly, Vinod Khanna’s last theatrical release, ‘Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi’ on April 21, 2017 was with Hema Malini. Though the film was completed way back in 2008. Old timers say that Vinod Khanna’s life had been very tumultuous and there were very few people around him during his last days before passing away.
