Veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday night due to massive cardiac arrest, shocking the entire film industry. The ‘Hawa Hawai’ actress was 54 years old and was in Dubai with husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi to attend a family wedding, with other celebs and cinema stars, where she was declared dead. After the glamorous nuptials of her nephew Mohit Marwah with Antara Motiwala, Sridevi decided to extend her stay in UAE, but who knew that her Gulf trip would end in her untimely death. Boney and Khushi reportedly returned to Mumbai while Sridevi stayed back in Dubai to enjoy some ‘me’ time. Reports suggest that Boney Kapoor is working out the formalities to fly down Sridevi’s body to India. Confirming the sad news, Sanjay Kapoor said, “Yes, it is true that Sridevi has passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11-11:30 pm. I don’t know more details yet,” to indianexpress.com last night. As Boney flew off to Dubai, people from entertainment fraternity, especially Bollywood, family members and other celebs and cinema stars gathered at Sridevi’s Mumbai residence to be by daughters Janhvi and Khushi’s side.

Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, Sridevi made her Bollywood debut as a child artiste in ‘Julie’ (1975). Sridevi’s filmography spans Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada projects. ‘Sadma’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Himmatwala’, ‘ChaalBaaz’ and ‘Mr India’ are some of her noted Hindi films. Sridevi took a sabbatical of almost a decade to take care of her daughters Janhvi and Khushi before returning to film. She came back to face the camera in 2012 with a super hit, ‘English Vinglish’. Sridevi’s last appearance on screen was ‘Mom’ which released in July 2017. Sridevi was apparently in talks with director Gauri Shinde to work on another film, before life cut her journey short.
