Ever since it was announced that T-Series and KriArj Entertainment had joined hands to co-produce Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, there has been speculations galore about who will be the leading lady opposite Shahid in this slice-of-life film to be directed by Shree Narayan Singh. It has now bene confirmed that Shraddha Kapoor, who has worked with Shahid in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’, will romance him yet again.

Producer Prernaa Arora from KriaArj Entertainment says, “We are happy to have Shraddha on board for ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. It’s a love story with an underlying social message. We wanted to highlight the issues we face with electricity in our day-to-day lives and the movie will showcase that in an entertaining way. Both Shahid and Shraddha make for a cute couple and we are looking forward to start shooting the film in February.” Producer Bhushan Kumar from T-Series adds, “‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is a quirky story set in a small town in Uttarakhand with a strong social message.  Collaborating with Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor on this is going to be an exciting journey. We are already working with Shraddha Kapoor on ‘Saina’ and we are delighted to have her on board with us for ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ as well.”

Shraddha will play a small-town girl, with a mind of her own. A fun loving girl, when it comes to standing up for what is right; she wholeheartedly supports the cause and fights shoulder-to-shoulder with her friend. The film’s concept is by Vipul Rawal and the story, screenplay and dialogue are written by Siddharth and Garima. ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is a very different world which we haven’t seen before on the silver screen. “I’m thrilled to be working on ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ along with Shree sir, Bhushanji, Prernaa and Shahid. I feel fortunate to be a part of this film. The subject of the movie is very relevant today and I can’t wait to start shooting for it,” says Shraddha excitedly.

After the success of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, KriArj Entertainment and director Shree Narayan Singh’s Krti Pictures have collaborated with T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar for this light-hearted but impactful social drama aimed at connecting with every Indian. The film is expected to release on August 31 this year.
