Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark after six days at the Bollywood Box Office. Thanks to the low Box Office collections, ‘Tubelight’ shows are even cancelled at some places and the ticket prices are slashed. With a drop in collections, the film raked in around Rs 10 crore on Wednesday, making a total of Rs 105.86 crore after six days. It failed to be the much publicised ‘Eid blockbuster’ as expected, and even the star power of Salman Khan couldn’t save the film from crashing. ‘Tubelight’ was made on an estimated budget of Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion), but still may not be the financial disaster for the makers. The filmmakers had reportedly sold the theatrical rights of ‘Tubelight’ for Rs 132 crore, music rights for Rs 20 crore and satellite rights of the film fetched another Rs 60 crore, garnering a massive total of Rs 212 crore by only selling the rights. This made the Bollywood film earning profits even before its release.

Damage control is being done to decrease the losses of ‘Tubelight’ at the Box Office. According to a report on Spotboye.com, several theatres in India have reduced the number of shows while some have even decreased the ticket prices. PVR in Juhu, Mumbai cancelled five shows of ‘Tubelight’ because of poor footfalls, while Hollywood films ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Despicable Cars’ have taken over the screens to fill in the gap. The report further states that shows of ‘Tubelight’ have been cancelled at INOX at Nariman Point and Movie Time, Chembur while PVR theatre at Kandivali has slashed the ticket rates by 20 percent.

Celebs and cinema stars Salman Khan and Kabir Khan’s combination has worked wonders at the Box Office so far as the duo has given hits like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. However, they couldn’t strike a hat-trick with ‘Tubelight’. Hopefully, Salman Khan has got another chance this year to prove again that he still holds the Bollywood Box Office reins in his hands with his big Christmas cracker ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.
