Sanjay Leela Bhansali breaks silence on Padmavati controversy
As ‘Padmavati’ controversy erupts, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali clarifies that there is no rumoured dream sequence between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji as made up by some miscreants
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ has become controversy’s favourite child. The filmmaker is now struggling to release the movie in Rajasthan amidst protests. Issuing a clarification, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shares, “I have made ‘Padmavati’ responsibly, with a lot of honesty and hard work. I have always been inspired by Rani Padmini’s story and this film is a tribute to her courage and honour. But because of a few rumours, ‘Padmavati’ is being dragged into controversy. Rumours are doing the rounds that Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji have a dream sequence in the movie. I would like to clarify that there is no such dream sequence. There is no such scene in the movie that would hurt anyone’s sentiments. We have made ‘Padmavati’ with great responsibility and have respected the honour of Rajputs.”
Being the director and producer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is hopeful that such a clarification may end all ill talks about his ambitious project. ‘Padmavati’, starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, is gearing up for a release on December 1.
