Three of the biggest celebs and cinema stars, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar announced a momentous collaboration with a film on the Battle of Saragarhi a while back. But it seems like this Bollywood movie may not happen at all! With Salman Khan and Karan Johar co-producing this venture, Akshay Kumar was to play the lead in this historic battle film, but a few reports suggest that the movie is now shelved. “You won’t see any shooting for that film either. The script is nowhere near ready. Akshay is now busy with his other assignments till the end of 2018. Producers Salman Khan and Karan Johar have also moved on. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ occupies the same genre and space. So it looks like Yash Raj Films has beaten Karan Johar to that big historic and epic Box Office space. It doesn’t look like their movie on Battle of Saragarhi will happen,” revealed a source to Quint. Akshay, Salman and Karan announced this collaboration in January 2017 and the shooting was to begin in mid-2017.
Back in March too, rumours were rife that the movie on the Battle of Saragarhi was not working out. However, Salman had then confirmed his commitment saying, “Don’t follow rumours. Follow me. ‘Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di, toh phir…’ very much doing film with Akshay Kumar.” While he did confirm a film with Akki, that may not be the one on the Battle of Saragarhi.
While the fate of the film on the Battle of Saragarhi is not yet known, Salman, Karan and Akshay, related to this project, are busy in their own way. While Salman is occupied with the shooting of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, Akshay Kumar has begun with ‘Gold’. Karan Johar, on the other hand, is busy with the home productions ‘Ittefaq’, ‘Student of The Year 2’ and ‘Drive’. So the Battle of Saragarhi can wait!
