In a season of breakups and divorces, here’s yet another cinema couple who will apparently part ways. Rumours are rife that Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, who tied the knot with businessman Ashwin Ramkumar in 2010, has filed for divorce at a family court. Reportedly, the couple’s relationship has been in troubled waters since some time now and Soundarya decided to go ahead with the decision. Soundarya and Ashwin became parents last year to a baby boy whom they have named Ved. But the celebrity couple now may divorce each other. Is this their 7-year itch? On the professional front, Soundarya turned director in 2014 with ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, which starred her father Rajinikanth.

As Soundarya Rajinikanth’s divorce news started trickling in yesterday, the celebrity daughter confirmed the rift in her marriage. Late evening, Soundarya confirmed her separation from R Ashwin saying, “News about my marriage is true. We have been separated for over a year and divorce talks are on. I request all to respect my family’s privacy.”
