Pratyusha Banerjee dead, suicide suspected

TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who catapulted to success with serial ‘Balika Vadhu’, was found dead in her apartment. Police are suspecting suicide as Pratyusha’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her flat. She was immediately shifted to nearby Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. She was 24-year-old.

Pratyusha committed suicide earlier during the day. The TV actress’ family resides in Kolkata. Her troubled relationship with current boyfriend and beau Rahul Raj Singh is said to be one of the major reasons for Pratyusha to give up her life. The celebrity couple was contemplating to get married soon. Pratyusha’s breakup from earlier businessman boyfriend Makrand Malhotra made headlines in 2013. Pratyusha was a party animal and hence was frequently seen with the Page 3 people.

Popularly known as Anandi of ‘Balika Vadhu’, Pratyusha Banerjee started her TV career with this show on Colors TV in 2010. She also featured in reality TV shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5’, ‘Bigg Boss 7’ apart from having famous fiction TV serials like ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Aahat’ to her credit. Pratyusha’s most recent TV appearance was in ‘Power Couple’ on Sony TV, before committing suicide.
