Anushka Sharma’s ‘Phillauri’ has hit the screens today but the Censor Board has asked to chop off a sequence from the movie. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly asked the makers of ‘Phillauri’ to remove a scene, where Suraj Sharma is seen reciting the Hanuman Chalisa in a bath tub, in presence of a ghost. The reason behind censoring the scene carrying Hanuman Chalisa is apparently that that recital of this Hindu devotional hymn addressed to god Hanuman eliminates ghosts and not pacify them. But ‘Phillauri’ seems to contradict this belief. Hence the Censor Board has asked the makers of ‘Phillauri’ to cut the scene where the Hanuman Chalisa is being played. Anushka Sharma plays the lead role, that of a friendly ghost, in this film. The celeb actress hosted a special screening of ‘Phillauri’ last night, attended by Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Rekha, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonki’s alleged beau Bunty Sajdeh among others.
