Gurinder Chadha, known for her 2002 hit film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, is set to promote her next, ‘Viceroy’s House’, which releases in India as ‘Partition: 1947’. The film stars Huma Qureshi in a pivotal role with the late actor Om Puri playing her father. Remembering Om Puri at the promotions of ‘Partition: 1947’, Huma said, “From the first moment I met Omji, I felt he was a lovely person to be with. He was a very fine actor and we all will fondly remember his huge body of work. He was very warm and loving.” The political drama has already released in United Kingdom and is eyeing an August release in India. ‘Partition: 1947’ explores life inside the Viceroy’s house and as the title suggests, is set in the Partition era of India.
