Mahira Khan replaced in Raees; Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s Pakistan track changed -

Pakistani celebrity artistes Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan have been banned from Bollywood. Their films ‘Raees’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ too face stalling of release in India. Looking at the controversy, producer Ritesh Sidhwani has decided to replace Mahira Khan in ‘Raees’ as it is not possible to shoot with the Pakistani celeb and cinema star, states a report in DNA. Mahira was to play the lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’ and had shot for the same. But now Mahira is no longer a part of ‘Raees’ as she has been relieved of her duties and the makers are on the lookout for a replacement.

What’s more, celeb and cinema star Karan Johar too has planned to tweak the script of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ to change its Pakistan track. ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ showcases Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma as Pakistani citizens. The leading ladies will no longer be Pakistani, but from another country, states another report in the daily. Karan was also toying with the idea of replacing Fawad Khan’s face with Saif Ali Khan through replacement technology. But since the Bollywood film is too close to release, this option has been dropped. Apparently, Karan had approached Saif to play the role before, but had then decided to go ahead with Fawad. Saif was also considered for the role of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ex-husband in the celebs and cinema stars filled movie, but Shah Rukh Khan eventually played the cameo.

Looking at the sentiments of Indian citizens currently, replacing Mahira Khan in ‘Raees’ only seems a wise decision. And so is changing the Pakistani angle of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. It maybe additional monetary burden on the Bollywood filmmakers, but in the long run the benefits may outrun anything else.
