India’s top TV comedian Kapil Sharma has alleged corruption in the municipal body BMC to do his office. Kapil Sharma has alleged that he was asked by somebody in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to pay a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. Interestingly, BMC had earlier served Kapil Sharma a notice over illegal construction of his office in Andheri. The BMC had slapped a stop-work notice to Kapil Sharma in July 2016. Kapil Sharma has now taken to Twitter tagging PM Narendra Modi, questioning and taking a jibe at BJP’s poll promise of ‘Achhe Din’.

Celebrity Kapil Sharma seemed to be in no mood for fun as he ranted on social media against the BMC, also known as the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). He angrily questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the corruption in the country. Kapil Sharma wrote, “I am paying Rs 15 crore income tax from the last five years and I still have to pay Rs 5 lakh bribe to BMC office for making my office.” Sarcastically, Kapil Sharma further posted, “Yeh hain aapke achhe din? (Is this what you call having good days?),” questioning the Prime Minister directly. Kapil Sharma initially received tremendous support from his followers as his post was retweeted 7,000 times and liked by over 10,000 people in no time. A little later, the BMC sprung up into action and the truth started coming out. The information was made available to the public that Kapil Sharma had received a notice from the municipal corporation about illegal construction of his office way back in July.

In the meantime, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis replied to Kapil Sharma on his Tweet, promising action against the accused. “Kapilbhai, please provide all information. Have directed MC, BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit,” said Fadnavis.

Aaditya Thackeray, President of the youth wing of the political outfit Shiv Sena also reacted saying, “Kapil Sharma, thank you for being an alert Mumbaikar. Would require you to assist Mayor and the MC to help in the drive against corruption. Would need the details of the officer and act be conveyed to the Mayor and MC to initiate action.”

Now that the fight between Kapil Sharma and the BMC is escalated and is out in the open, it remains to be seen who will blink first.

Update:

Without commenting on the many questions raised at him after the BMC battle, Kapil Sharma again took to Twitter to say, “I just voiced my concern on the corruption I faced with certain individuals. It’s no blame on any political party, be it BJP, MNS or Shiv Sena.”
