The latest Bollywood couple to have ended their marriage is filmmaker-cum-actor Farhan Akhtar and celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Akhtar nee Bhabani. The duo, who tied the knot in 2000, 15 years later has announced their divorce through an official statement, “This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner.”
Rumours about the couple drifting apart rose after Adhuna, who is always seen accompanying Farhan, was missing from his side during the success celebrations of ‘Wazir’. Farhan had apparently met Adhuna while he was working on his debut Bollywood film, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. Adhuna, who owns the hairstyling brand B-blunt, also marked her debut in the industry as a hairstylist with the same film. The couple has two kids, Shakya and Akira, who have not been much in the public eye.
Back in 2011, Farhan Akhtar was allegedly linked to one of the assistant directors of his film ‘Don 2’. The director-actor had a rather sarcastic response to the report, he posted on Twitter, “Woke up this morning to some really creative fiction. Where do they get their inspiration for such imagination from, I wonder…?”
Farhan and Adhuna make up for yet another Bollywood marriage to bite the dust in recent times. Not too long ago, couples like Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur, Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap have parted ways.
