Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away on Thursday, at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He had been reportedly diagnosed with sepsis, decreased blood count and pneumonia. Sadly, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away just four days before his 80th birthday.
Several Bollywood celebrities took to micro-blogging site Twitter to pay their final respects to the politician.
While Anupam Kher wrote, “Saddened to know about the passing away of J&K Chief Minister Mufti Saab. (I had) Met him recently. He was a warm person and easily approachable. RIP,” Ritesh Deshmukh said, “Saddened to hear that J&K CM Shri Mufti Mohd Sayeed is no more. May his soul rest in peace.”
Madhur Bhandarkar, who had chanced upon meeting the veteran politician, said, “Sad to hear about (the) demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeedji. (I) Had met him a few months back in Mumbai. Condolences and prayers for family. May his soul RIP.”
Jackky Bhagnani too was quick to react, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Mufti Sayeed Sahib. (I) Met him last year. (He was) An extremely gracious host and a true visionary. RIP, Mufti Sahib.”
