AR Rahman again in race for Oscars

Composer AR Rahman’s Hollywood movie ‘Pele: Birth of A Legend’ is nominated in the Original Score category at the prestigious Oscar awards, aka Academy Awards

They say history repeats itself. And it certainly has when it comes to the music maestro AR Rahman. After his much publicised ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in 2008-2009, Rahman has again been nominated for the prestigious Oscar awards. Rahman is nominated for Oscars in the Original Score category for the film ‘Pele: Birth of A Legend’. Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, will be announced on February 26, 2017. So it is going to be a long two-and-a-half months wait before Rahman’s fate is revealed from the sealed envelope. While he won two Oscars for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, AR Rahman has been nominated in various categories for ‘127 Hours’, and its song ‘If I Rise’. Rahman was also considered for nomination for his other Hollywood movies like ‘Million Dollar Arm’ and ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’ at the Academy Awards in the past.
