Anupam Kher has been reportedly denied a visa to Pakistan. The actor was scheduled to attend the Karachi Literature Festival which commences on February 5.

While rumours surface that he has been denied the visa, news agency ANI quoted Pakistan High Commission stating that they never received any visa application from Anupam Kher. The actor was scheduled to participate in two important programmes at the Karachi Literature Festival. He was among the few speakers at ‘From Life To Reel’ session, which also includes Nandita Das. Also ‘Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai: Ashok Chopra In Conversation With Anupam Kher’ is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, between 4.15 and 5.15 pm local time. With a week to go, it remains to be seen if Anupam Kher is able to cross the border and fulfil his artistic duties.

In the meantime, Anupam Kher reacted to the whole issue of visa rejection with, “Didn’t Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs red flag my name to Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi? Why hide facts deliberately? Pak High Commission should know their own rules. Karachi Lit Fest had given my name to authorities a month back and have my name in every poster.” Not the one going down without putting up a brave fight, Kher also brought in his past and the much dreaded T word. He said, “Has my visa been denied because I speak about India’s rich tradition of tolerance or I am a Kashmiri Pandit who may expose Pakistan terror nexus?”
