‘Aligarh’ and ‘Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive’ – two much anticipated films hit the screens this Friday. On the one hand the serious cinema is a real life story of Professor Ramchandra Siras of Aligarh Muslim University, on the other, the film is a much awaited comedy sequel, but both the films failed to impress the audiences. According to trade reports, ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive’, both opened to very less occupancy and to lukewarm response across the country. ‘Tere Bin Laden: Dead Or Alive’ made a little under Rs 1 crore on its first day while ‘Aligarh’ could not even make Rs 50 lakhs. While these two films are slugging it out at the box office right from Day 1, Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Neerja’ is still going good.
‘Neerja’ collected approximately Rs 35 crore in its first week and is getting a lot of positive word of mouth publicity. Moreover, the film has been made tax free in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. ‘Neerja’ is in its second week of release and is sure to dominate over the new releases this week.
