Akshay Kumar has been doing a lot of realistic films as his next Bollywood flick may just be based on a social cause. Akki was to start shooting with AR Murgadoss for the remake of Tamil film ‘Kaththi’ which released in 2014. This film was based on farmers’ suicide, but the makers are planning to change the subject to scarcity of water. Buzz is that, since ‘Kaththi’ was hugely popular across the country, the makers have decided to opt for another social cause. This film will apparently showcase the issues faced by the people in this country as everyone has to buy water, and corporates making it into a business. With a celebrity and actor like Akshay Kumar at the centre of it all, the film could garner enough eyeballs.

A lot of cinema celebs are lending their support to the problem of water scarcity and famers’ suicide. Recently Aamir Khan also launched a campaign to educate everyone about water irrigation. The actor, along with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, initiated the ‘Satyamev Jayate Water Cup’ campaign to address and educate about the issue of water in the remote places of the state, just after Nana Patekar did charity for farmers. Akshay Kumar too has donated Rs 50 lakhs to the ‘Jalyukta Shivar Yojna’.
