After being successful with real life drama films like ‘Special 26’ and ‘Rustom’, Akshay Kumar is now gearing up for a biopic. Akki will step into the role of ace hockey player Balbir Singh in a Bollywood movie titled ‘Gold’. The film will trace the life and career of Balbir Singh, who was a part of the Indian Hockey Team when they won Gold at the Olympics in 1948, 1952 and 1956. ‘Gold’ will be set in 1948 and will feature the historic story of India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation. ‘Gold’ will hit the screens on August 15, 2018. This Bollywood movie will be shot in the second half of 2017 and will be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. Reema Kagti will be directing Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gold’.
