While ‘Tubelight’ marked an opening of Rs 21.15 crore on its first day of release, the Salman Khan-starrer went on to make Rs 21.17 crore on Saturday and Rs 22.45 crore on Sunday. After a weekend collection of Rs 64.77 crore at the Box Office, all hopes were pinned on the holiday of Eid, falling on Monday. However, instead of the numbers increasing massively as expected, the Box Office collection for ‘Tubelight’ dipped to Rs 19.09 crore on Monday. At the end of its extended four-day weekend, ‘Tubelight’ has collected a total of Rs 83.86 crore at the Bollywood Box Office. Despite the star power of Salman Khan coupled with a long weekend holiday of Eid, ‘Tubelight’ has underperformed at the Box Office.
Surprisingly, ‘Tubelight’ has not yet collected even Rs 100 crore, while Salman Khan’s past few Eid releases have made easy entries into the coveted club! The 2015 release, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ made Rs 102 crore in its three-day Eid weekend while 2016 release ‘Sultan’ collected Rs 105.53 crore in the five-day Eid weekend. ‘Tubelight’ may have to wait for another day to reach the total over Rs 100 crore. Eid of 2017 and ‘Tubelight’ have indeed come as an exception in Salman Khan’s Bollywood career.
