Aamir Khan was in Mumbai for the trailer launch of his eighth home production film, ‘Secret Superstar’. Being a filmmaker himself, Aamir Khan has a strong view on the censorship issues that most films are facing, “Censorship is something that I don’t know how relevant it is today. As far as my knowledge goes, the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) is not supposed to censor a film, it is rather supposed to grade the film, certify as to which age group can watch the movie. I think that’s how we should proceed and that’s what Mr Benegal’s (Shyam Benegal Committee report) recommendations are. Things will hopefully get better.” The government had constituted a committee under senior filmmaker Shyam Benegal to advice them on film censorship. The newest film to face the Censor’s wrath is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’, which has been awarded 48 cuts along with an ‘A’ certificate.
