Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Zero’ has failed to bank on the many holidays of Christmas, as the film was expected to grow in numbers during the large break. ‘Zero’ made Rs 9.50 crore on Monday, while on Tuesday, being a Christmas holiday, marked a collection of Rs 12.75 crore. In its five-day run across 4,380 screens, ‘Zero’ underperformed with a total of Rs 81.32 crore, thus missing the coveted 100-crore mark, which the industry was expecting to be an easy task looking at the way the film was mounted. Bringing bad news for its makers, the collections of ‘Zero’ did not boost through the weekend or the holiday thereafter. ‘Zero’ will now have to fend off competition from the much anticipated, action-comedy ‘Simmba’, starring newlywed Ranveer Singh. While Shah Rukh’s star power couldn’t bring in the expected and required footfalls, hopes are high with Ranveer who is a hero of the masses. So will the New Year holidays work for ‘Simmba’, unlike Christmas for ‘Zero’? Time will tell.
