Why is Tubelight actress Zhu Zhu missing in action?
‘Tubelight’ actress Zhu Zhu, who is the only lead in the Salman Khan-starrer Bollywood film, is missing in action. Kabir Khan and team hasn’t introduced the Chinese actress to the world out here, and this seems to be a smart marketing move
As its release date is nearing, Salman Khan-starrer Tubelight is catching more steam by the day. The Kabir Khan-directed Bollywood film has yet another ace up its sleeve, apart from the camaraderie of real-life brothers Salman and Sohail Khan, and that is, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. She plays Sallu’s love interest in the Bollywood film, but hasn’t been introduced to the media at any events so far. So why is Zhu Zhu missing in action? Or why is it that Salman Khan and Kabir Khan are keeping her away from the eyes of the prying media? What is stopping them from introducing ‘Tubelight’s’ lead actress Zhu Zhu to the public in India, more so when it is for the first time in the near past that one of the top most Chinese actresses is working in such a big-budget Bollywood film? The answer to that is, particularly nothing. Yes, it seems that there is nothing to hide but the team is only waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
To keep the steam of ‘Tubelight’ alive, introducing Chinese actress Zhu Zhu to the Indian media and the Bollywood fans out here a little late, could only be a marketing gimmick. As the film nears its release date, it might generate more heat, and that’s when Kabir Khan and Salman Khan will introduce Zhu Zhu, who is missing in action from all the ‘Tubelight’ events till date. Poster, song and trailer releases, along with a few TV shows, are the general ways of promoting the film and doing various events. But the makers of ‘Tubelight’ seem to want to cash in on the fact that it will be the first time that a Chinese actress of such repute will feature in a Bollywood film, which could garner more eyeballs than expected. Hence they are keeping the best for the last.
China is considered to be a very strong market for Bollywood films. There are very few Bollywood movies which are permitted to release in the Dragon country. Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ did a whopping business there, and Salman seems to be trying to imitate the same with ‘Tubelight’. Zhu Zhu could prove to be his entry ticket to the country.
Upcoming ‘Tubelight’ event will take place on Monday, June 19, ie, today. Hence it will be interesting to see if Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan will introduce Zhu Zhu in the run up to the release as promised or not. ‘Tubelight’ releases this week, that is, on June 23, and these are just the last few days before release to present Zhu Zhu to the entertainment world in India. Will this gamble pay off? Will Zhu Zhu’s last-minute entry be able to generate enough buzz? Let’s wait and watch!
