Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan will reunite for a gangster film, to be directed by Honey Trehan. However Vishal Bhardwaj, who is co-producing the project, has now stepped in to helm the film, following creative and artistic differences with the original director. This yet untitled project is based on journalist and writer Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, wherein Deepika will portray a feared lady mafia don Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi, while Irrfan will play a local gangster. This Sapna Didi biopic is scheduled to release in the latter half of 2018. Interestingly, Deepika has had no Bollywood release in 2016 due to her Hollywood film, while in the year 2017, her controversial project ‘Padmavati’ did not see the light of the day. The actress will finally be seen on the silver screen after a gap of almost two years.
