Virat Kohli has bagged what could be termed as the biggest brand endorsement deal till date. The Indian cricket captain has been signed up for an eight-year contract worth Rs 110 crore by sports giant Puma, states a report in a leading daily. With this endorsement, Virat Kohli has earned the tag of being the first Indian sportsman to bag a meaty deal of more than Rs 100 crore with a single brand, informs the report on Times of India. Virat Kohli will now rub shoulders with other global ambassadors like Usain Bolt and Thierry Henry. Puma will launch a signature line of sports products that will be endorsed by Virat. The cricketer has already begun with promotions on his official Twitter account today morning, modelling in their shoes, captioning the shared picture as ‘The new era now begins with Puma’. Apparently his predecessors, Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have inked deals worth Rs 100 crore, but only with talent management firms which brought in all the endorsements for them.
With Virat Kohli’s professional highs continuing to keep him in the news, with the most recent Rs 110-crore deal, his personal life too is much talked about. The ace cricketer recently went public sharing an adorable Valentine’s Day message having Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in the picture. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma also danced their hearts out at the wedding reception of another cricketer, Yuvraj Singh and Bollywood actress Hazel Keech. Earlier this year, Anushka and Virat were rumoured to get engaged but nothing materialised between the couple despite the alleged relationship, who was just enjoying a holiday in Uttaranchal.
