Om Puri succumbed to a massive heart attack at his residence in Mumbai on Friday morning. Padma Shri awardee, Om Puri passed away at the age of 66 after cardiac arrest and was taken to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem. Om Puri is survived by estranged wife Nandita Puri and son Ishaan Puri. The veteran Bollywood actor was known for his performance in critically acclaimed films like ‘Ardh Satya’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ and ‘Gupt’. Celebrity and Hindi cinema star Om Puri’s career also boasts of international projects like ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘The Hundred-Foot Journey’. He was praised for his powerful performances not just in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. Om Puri was one of the first few celebrity Bollywood actors who successfully made his mark in the international cinema. He was also awarded the OBE, the prestigious Order of the British Empire in 2004.

As his body will be exhumed at 6 pm at Oshiwara Crematorium, after succumbing to cardiac arrest, reports state that Om Puri returned home last night after shoot. Today morning when his driver rang the doorbell to pick him up for work again, it went unanswered. On feeling suspicious that something could be wrong with the Bollywood celeb, Om Puri’s driver raised an alarm. Om Puri’s recent silver screen appearances include ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ with Salman Khan and ‘Ghayal Returns’ with Sunny Deol. Om Puri has also lent his voice in the film ‘The Jungle Book’ where he was the voice of Bagheera. His sudden death has left many of Om Puri’s fans in shock.
