Shweta Basu Prasad was seen on the small screen in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ a decade ago. After going through the controversy of a sex scandal, Shweta is ready to bounce back with a new TV show. Trade buzz suggests that Shweta Basu Prasad has bagged a role opposite Rajat Tokas in the drama series ‘Chandragupta Maurya’. She will be playing the character of Chandragupta Maurya’s wife, Nandini.
A year ago, Shweta Basu Prasad made headlines for having allegedly caught in a sex scandal, followed by a stay at a rehabilitation centre. Shweta is best remembered for her silver screen roles like ‘Makdi’ and ‘Iqbal’. While confirmation is awaited, the role in TV will definitely give the much needed boost to Shweta’s career.
‘Chandragupta Maurya’ used to air on Imagine TV in 2011-12, but was soon shut. Ekta Kapoor is keen to work on this mythological concept and hence Balaji Telefilms roped in Rajat Tokas to play the lead role. After the popular show ‘Jodha Akbar’, Rajat was last seen doing a cameo in ‘Naagin’. It remains to be seen on which channel this new show, with a fresh pairing, will be aired.
