Bollywood celebrity Sonam Kapoor has joined hands with Fight Hunger Foundation and is their first Goodwill Ambassador to help raise awareness about malnutrition. The Mumbai based NGO approached Sonam to take up the cause and the cinema actress agreed to it almost immediately. “I have been speaking on feminism, health issues and body image issues. But we never think of something as basic as food, shelter and clothing, especially someone like me who comes from an affluent background,” says Sonam. In order to understand how big an issue malnutrition is, Sonam visited Medical Nutrition Therapy unit at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. “I went to the Sion Hospital and was very moved. Barely 3-month-old babies and their parents were fighting to get their food. I felt very small and didn’t feel like eating after that. I have been given so much, so I want to give back to the society,” shares Sonam.
