Was it a pre-planned strategy by Shah Rukh Khan to get ‘Dear Zindagi’ poster released, to salvage Karan Johar from the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ controversy? Possibly so. And here’s why: At a time when not just the entertainment industry along with the who’s who of celebs and cinema world, but also the whole sphere is busy tracking the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ controversy, Shah Rukh Khan has got the poster of his upcoming Bollywood flick with Alia Bhatt, ‘Dear Zindagi’ released. Knowing Shah Rukh Khan and how fiercely he promotes and protects his Bollywood babies, by trying to have the entire space to himself, this doesn’t seem to match his sensibilities this time around. It seems a rather tactical move as SRK always goes all guns blazing when it comes to publicising and promoting his films. Also, it is no coincidence that the PR firm promoting ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’ is the same, since Karan’s Dharma Productions is co-producing the latter. It is also the same company which looks after Karan Johar’s personal public relation. In that case it is only anybody’s guess that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar would have jointly decided to release the first poster of ‘Dear Zindagi’, so that there will be less negative publicity for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Shah Rukh is known to be a master PR strategist himself and this seems to be a very well thought of, super carved out marketing strategy. Nilufer Qureshi of Hype PR, the firm responsible for publicity and promotion of the both the films, remained unavailable for comments.
The trouble for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ started brewing after the terrorists attack in Uri in Jammu, India. The attacks were insinuated by Pakistan. The Bollywood film stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and hence some political parties, along with a few citizens, suggested banning the movie. The film releases on October 28, and hence palpitations were bound to increase. Although ‘Dear Zindagi’ releases on November 25, and some would have thought it was due for promotions, the celebs and cinema makers could have easily waited for a few more days.
While Karan Johar is going through a little ‘mushkil’ time, dear Shah Rukh seems to have come to his best friend’s rescue. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
