Omung Kumar has taken the lead over the face-off with Ashutosh Gowariker, as both the filmmakers gear up to make a movie on Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, the ruler of Nawanagar, Jamnagar, a princely state in the British India. Omung Kumar’s film will feature Sanjay Dutt in the lead role, who plays the king of Jamnagar, and the filmmaker has already revealed the first royal look of Dutt from the historical drama. Titled ‘The Good Maharaja’, Omung Kumar’s film will chronicle the story of how hundreds of Polish refugees landed in Jamnagar and were provided shelter by Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja. ‘The Good Maharaja’ will be made on a massive budget, adding every bit of royalty to the film.

Reports suggest that ‘Mohenjo Daro’ filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has bought the rights to make the story from the Maharaja’s descendants, but for now Omung Kumar is ahead in the race.
