Sanjay Dutt walked a free man a year ago from Yerwada Jail after completing his sentence in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, but his past is back to haunt him. The Andheri court in Mumbai has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Sanjay Dutt for allegedly threatening filmmaker Shakil Noorani in 2002. The matter was raised in 2013, but Dutt went to Yerwada Jail to complete his sentence in the serial blasts case. And now, Shakil Noorani seems to be back to pursue the matter and take Sanjay Dutt to task all over again.
In 2002, Sanjay Dutt had reportedly signed up for Noorani’s film ‘Jaan Ki Baazi’ and was paid Rs 50 lakhs for the same. However, Sanjay Dutt did not honour the commitment of completing the movie. Reports suggest that Noorani has approached the High Court for justice. He also claimed to receive death threats from the underworld on the behest of Sanjay Dutt, following which the non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against Sanjay Dutt.
Sanjay Dutt’s team shared an official statement from the actor:
“This case has been going on since a long time and the present situation has arisen because of the communication lapse between our lawyers and us. We respect the urgency shown by the honourable court regarding our attendance/representation and we would take immediate measure to rectify the situation.”
