Salman Khan was sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the Jodhpur Court yesterday, under Section 9/51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, announcing the verdict in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. The actor was immediately arrested and reportedly spent a restless first night as ‘qaidi’ no 106 in the Jodhpur Central Jail. Salman Khan, who shares the same barrack as Asaram Bapu, reportedly complained of high blood pressure. The ‘Race 3’ actor was served jail dinner and breakfast this morning with no special treatment being meted out to the superstar. As soon as he was taken into the custody, security was beefed up in the Jodhpur Central Jail as Salman faces a life threat from Punjab-based gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, who belongs to the Bishnoi community, which is the main complainant against the actor.
Salman Khan’s team of lawyers prepared for a bail hearing at the sessions court, but the bail verdict has been deferred till tomorrow. The sessions court judge Ravinder Kumar Joshi has reportedly asked for records from the Rural Court and High Court. Due to this decision, Salman will have to spend another night in jail. Convicted Sallu is supported by sisters Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma who are camping in Jodhpur. Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, who has worked with Salman Khan in ‘Kick’, decided to call off the success party of ‘Baaghi 2’. The filmmaker is also travelling to Jodhpur with Salman Khan’s brothers Arbaaz and Sohail Khan to support Salman.
