The prestigious National Awards were announced last month with Bollywood’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’ bagging several coveted honours. Ranveer Singh did not receive an award for the Best Actor. The National Award for Best Actor was given to Amitabh Bachchan for his Bollywood film ‘Piku’.

Not at all disappointed, Ranveer says, “I am really happy with the team. I genuinely believe that filmmaking is a collaborative effort. It is not the work of one person. It is a team that works together. If I have won an award then it is as good as the team winning an award and vice-versa. I am only too delighted that so many of our technicians and actors won, and most of all for Mr (Sanjay Leela) Bhansali. This Bollywood film has been his long standing dream and to receive the National Award for Best Director, I am very happy for him.”
