Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 has massive VFX budget
The makers of 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, have allotted a massive budget to the film for visual effects; flick cost runs over Rs 500 crore
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s much awaited film, ‘2.0’, is made on a massive budget with a large chunk of the finances allotted to the film’s visual effects (VFX). It has been revealed that ‘2.0’ is India’s first project made with a huge budget, approximately $75 million, which translates to over Rs 500 crore. Apart from being shot on a large scale budget, ‘2.0’ is also India’s first film to be made completely in 3D format. The makers are lavishly spending on the film’s promotions as well, which includes stunt like hot air balloon tour. Live music concert in Dubai, teaser release in Hyderabad and trailer release in Chennai, all in three consecutive months, the makers had a plan that ‘2.0’ continued to make headlines month after month before it hit the screens.
With Rajinikanth in the lead and Akshay Kumar in a negative role, the first teaser of the film will be revealed on September 13, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. ‘2.0’ is set to hit the screens on November 29, after about two-and-a-half month post releasing the first teaser. It must be noted here that the release of this film has been changed endlessly. From April 14 to April 27 and even hitting the screens in 2019, ‘2.0’ seems to have avoided clashes with ‘October’, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, ‘Baaghi 2’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, after constantly getting postponed. ‘2.0’ is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2010 hit sci-fi film ‘Enthiran’, aka ‘Robot’. Apart from the technicalities, VFX and publicity, so many postponements also have forced the budget of Shankar-directed ‘2.0’ go through the roof.
