Anupam Kher has now turned down the offer of the Pakistan High Commission to issue him a visa to visit Karachi. The actor was scheduled to participate in two programmes at the Karachi Literature Festival, which begins from February 5. Anupam Kher said, “Thank you, Mr Abdul Basit, (Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi) for your call and offering me visa to visit Karachi. I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I’ve given away those dates now.”
The actor has forever been very vocal about his feelings, be it on intolerance or on the fight for Hindu Kashmiri Pandits. Anupam Kher stated that his opinions may have been the reason for rejecting the visa. At a press conference yesterday, Kher said, “Terrorism in Kashmir and being its victim are realities of life for Kashmiri locals. It is very easy for me because I stay in Mumbai, but looking back at people in Jammu I felt that I should take up their issue. If my being vocal about the issues in Kashmir is the reason for rejecting my visa then I feel helpless.”
