It seems to be a season of divorces in Bollywood. After the last high profile divorce of Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Bhabani, rumours are rife that Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan have called it quits.
The internet and social media today went buzzing that Malaika Arora Khan is dating a UK based businessman and is living apart from Arbaaz since October last year. This news comes as a shocker as Malaika and Arbaaz are gearing up for a grand finale of their TV show, ‘Power Couple’. No official statement or confirmation has come from either of the two till this is being written.
However, what raises suspicion here is that whether this couple is actually headed to the Family Court or is this yet another publicity stunt for the sake of promotion? To refresh your memory, back in 2008, media was abuzz with talks of Malaika and Arbaaz parting ways. At that time too, alleged well-placed sources were quoted saying that Malaika had left their home with their child Arhaan in tow and was staying away from Arbaaz. It was eventually revealed that this ‘divorce’ was a made-up story, to get maximum attention for promotions of a cosmetic brand. Both stated that they had somebody else in their respective life and will remarry soon. The introduction of the ‘new person’ too was on the cards.
Malaika and Arbaaz agreed to fake their divorce and soon ‘remarried’ (each other) on the sets of the ad shoot where they came in their new avatars, calling themselves new and transformed people. This way they tried to justify that it was not a lie and they were indeed marrying ‘new’ people. Before you start scratching your heads, all this hullabaloo was for the promotions of Pond’s.
Ironically, Pond’s is also the title sponsor of Malaika and Arbaaz Khan’s latest reality show ‘Power Couple’. There seems to be too many co-incidences to ignore. Here they are:
The news of divorce just like the last time, just in time when they are going to shoot for the show, and the most striking similarity, the same cosmetic brand sponsoring this TV show.
We hope that this one too turns out to be yet another promotional strategy! And if it does then one can only imagine the kind of free publicity this will generate, before and after the entire pomp. For those who joined late, reams and reams of papers were used when the news of divorce and eventual publicity gimmick broke out back in 2008.
Backgrounder:
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan had met while shooting for a commercial and apparently theirs was a case of love at first sight. After a long courtship period, they tied the knot in December 1998, in a Catholic wedding followed by Nikah. They have a 13 year old son Arhaan.
PS: Arbaaz’s brother Sohail Khan’s alleged affair with Huma Qureshi too is currently in the news. Though Huma has tried to clear the air by calling him ‘just like an elder brother’, Sohail’s wife Seema Sachdev Khan is certainly not taking things lying down, or so do the sources say. Seema, apparently, is contemplating divorce. We hope Arbaaz and Malaika’s news is not to keep the other couple safe and away from the unwarranted limelight.
