Krushna Abhishek has been at the centre of controversy, thanks to his new show ‘Comedy Nights Live’ on Colors channel. The popular comedian is directly being compared to the king of comedy Kapil Sharma as Krushna replaced Kapil’s much loved show.

Relaying his journey from ‘Comedy Nights Bachao’ to ‘Comedy Nights Live’, Krushna says, “‘Comedy Nights Bachao’ became a hit TV show and we used to shoot at ease. We had a lot of actors, from Shah Rukh Khan to Deepika Padukone, coming on the show. One day we got a call from the channel saying that Kapil is moving out and not continuing his show, and that we will have to do his show.” It tool Krushna a day only to digest the fact that they have to come up with an equally strong comedy show to replace ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ (‘CNWK’)! “We were tensed because Kapil had created a huge show and to make something on those lines was not a small thing. So we were scared. He is a very talented person. Kapil had taken the show to a different level and we had to start from there,” adds Krushna.

After gathering a lot of courage, Krushna and his team worked their way to put up a new comedy show with Madhuri Dixit as their first guest. He says, “We did a lot of mock shoots on their sets because there was a certain energy. I was a bit scared on the first day as it’s the same place where they used to perform… what and how will we do? But we believed when you don’t have confidence, be confident and we started off on good ratings. I was abused a lot on social networking sites. It was just because a certain audience is attached to ‘CNWK’, but they also have short lived memory. I was hoping that people will get used to it.”

Keeping up the positive spirit, Krushna concludes, “We have just done a few episodes till now and are moving ahead with suggestions. Abuses have stopped by about 50-60 percent. So our efforts are on. Hopefully one day people will say that our show is very good.”
