Kartik Aaryan quitting ‘Goodbye Freddy’ news started doing the rounds yesterday. But the reason behind him letting go of the tentatively titled flick is only being speculated so far. On the one hand where industry insiders say creative differences led him to drop out of the Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies-backed film, another line of statement suggests that he may have been removed as Kartik wanted to change the script. The actor reportedly had okayed the script during the reading session with director Ajay Bahl but later back-tracked. For those who joined us now, ‘Goodbye Freddy’ stars Katrina Kaif opposite Kartik Aaryan.
Then there’s another theory as well in the Kartik-Freddy saga. Kartik thought that Katrina, despite being one of the top actresses today, would look much older to him. Hence it would not be right to work opposite her in ‘Goodbye Freddy’. Kartik is currently at a juncture where he has made enormous fan following, thanks to his many comic hits in the past. And hence taking a step like working with Katrina could damage his career and reputation, it is said. Kartik has returned the alleged signing amount of Rs 2 crore to Red Chillies Entertainment. Since then he has moved on to his current crop of films.
Neither Kartik Aaryan nor Red Chillies Entertainment announced ‘Goodbye Freddy’ officially all this while. Hence the title of the film was also only being speculated. While some suggested the film was called ‘Goodbye Freddy’, others said it was titled ‘Freddy’, with a spin-off of calling it ‘Freddie’ as well. Now that Kartik has bid goodbye to the film (or the filmmakers have bid adieu to the actor), the hunt for new face to star opposite Katrina Kaif could soon be on. Kartik meanwhile is busy with ‘Dhamaka’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ but lost Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’ just last month.
