(Statutory Warning: Chuckles and giggles guaranteed. Your cheeks may hurt laughing if you can imagine him replying in his signature Kapil style)
Why did you move on from ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ on Colors?
This is life and when sensibilities don’t match we have to move on. We were disagreeing on a few things so we moved out from there and have come up with a new show.
How difficult was it to leave an established show and start things afresh?
Life teaches you a lot of things. If we are stuck at one point thinking about what has happened, then that is not the right attitude. I feel that if one thing stops then God presents us with another opportunity. Everything happens for the good, so we are going to continue to bring smiles on the faces of people.
What is going to be new on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’?
There are very few people who have a good timing in this entertainment industry, hence our team is more or less the same, from creative to artistes.
This time we are going to introduce a few new characters. Also, if someone feels that s/he can entertain the audiences then those people are most welcome on the stage.
When you try to do something with good intention then I don’t think it is necessary to differentiate from anyone. We will do our work with 100 percent loyalty and hopefully everyone will love it.
Does this mean you will be doing a live show?
When you perform in a controlled environment, a lot of things are in your hand. We are going to perform in the presence of live audience in Delhi and if we get a good response then we will do more of it.
How do you plan to replace the characters of Dadi, Gutthi and Palak in this new show?
They are not Dadi, Gutthi or Palak, rather they are Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Kiku Sharda. We have a lot of trust on each other and believe in team work, so the charm will continue with new characters.
They are the masters of disguise so they will continue to do something different. The audience will get to see even more loveable characters. Gutthi can always come to visit us, asking all sorts of curious questions like why and when did we shift here, etc (laughs).
Why is Upasna Singh, aka Bua missing from the cast?
It depends upon a person’s choice. I think either her contract with the channel of was longer duration or there were some other contractual issues. So she decided to stay back and we respect that.
Have you watched ‘Comedy Nights Live’, the show which replaced yours?
I have seen the show and they are doing it in a completely different manner. After watching a couple of initial episodes, we got busy in our show. If we keep watching others’ shows, when will we work on ours? (laughs out loud)
Will Bollywood celebrities be a part of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’?
The grace of our programme increases when celebrities become a part of the show. They also enjoy it because we make them participate as well. There will definitely be celebrities from the cinema world coming on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.
